Services are responsible for setting up default configuration as part of the install process. This includes setting up registry settings for Softdial Contact Center™ to display its service control panel.
These services can be installed, removed, stopped and started via the Windows Administration facility and by using the command line procedures described below. For convenience, Softdial Contact Center™ includes a Service Status window that runs by default in the system tray, accessible by clicking and selecting the Service Status... option (Fig. 1).
Fig. 1 - Service Status Window
This provides at-a-glance information on which services are installed and running (Fig. 1).
It also provides the ability to stop, start or restart services as a group, or, from Version 10, services may be individually controlled. Normally you should not need to stop or restart services. However, this may be required on occasion for maintenance or troubleshooting purposes. The procedure for stopping and starting or restarting services, either individually or as a group, is described in Stop/ Start Services.
The Service Status window is dynamic in that it monitors the state of the dialer and reporting services and updates status information.
It also provides access to the Event Log.
We recommend that you check the Service Status viewer regularly to ensure all required services are running, particularly at the start of a shift or if you are experiencing problems with any aspect of Softdial Contact Center™.
Services cannot be installed or removed via the Softdial Service Control Window. This must be carried out using the Command Line options.
Service installation is carried out at software installation. Service removal and re-installation should only be carried out by trained service personnel.
