For a Progressive campaign, Softdial CallGem™ will dial one number per free call centre agent. Since the number is being attempted for a specific agent, the screen pop information can be sent to that agent as soon as the number is being tried. This information is sent via the Begin Preview [BP] message.
Since there is no overdialing in a Progressive campaign, wait times can be considerably longer compared to Predictive dialing.
One advantage of a Progressive campaign over Predictive is that call abandon rates can be very low, or even zero since calls are only dialed for agents who are free to take them. Of course, as with any type of dialing, this does not prevent abandons occuring if agents log out in an uncontrolled way, or there is a failure in the telephony layer for example.
Progressive campaigns can be a better option under certain circumstances. For example for market research campaigns where the talk times are very long (several minutes) and/ or the connect rate is very high (> 60%), there may be little or no benefit to be gained from running a Predictive campaign.
