Dialer Chat is a tool that allows manual communication with Softdial CallGem™ using standard SDMP messages. It is useful for both integration testing and troubleshooting.
This tutorial is designed to help you get familiar with using Dialer Chat and also with the Softdial CallGem™ SDMP Message Protocol. If you are not already familiar with SDMP, get an overview of the structure and format of this protocol here.

The Dialer Chat utility (DialerChat.exe) is included with the Softdial Contact Center™ installation and can be found in the installation root folder. Double click DialerChat.exe to open the Dialer Chat window (Fig. 1).
Dialer Chat connects to any accessible Softdial CallGem™ service on localhost, port 6500 by default. If the Softdial CallGem™ service is on a remote server, enter the IP Address of the server in the Host field.By default Dialer Chat connects to the Landlord tenant using the SYSTEM credentials configured on installation of Softdial Contact Center™. If you have changed these credentials as part of your security policy you must enter valid credentials for an administrator user here instead.
Once connected to Softdial CallGem™, you can send SDMP messages to Softdial CallGem™ by entering them in the message text field at the bottom of the window, and clicking the Send button.
As you send SDMP messages, the messages you enter and the responses returned from Softdial CallGem™ are recorded in the lower panel of the window. Messages sent to Softdial CallGem™ are shown in blue while response messages are brown . Error messages are shown in red .
Messages entered may be copied and pasted to the message text field by highlighting the required message and clicking F3 or selecting Get selection from the Command menu. This is a useful timesaver where you want to send the same or similar messages repeatedly.
Click F4 or select Copy Selection to Clipboard to do just that.
